Blue on blue
The giddy social round continues. This afternoon L and H made the trek from their respective cities to check up on their aged parents and each other, and we had a great afternoon sharing news, views, gossip, and laughter. I wouldn't have missed it for the world, but it did mean that once again I had just a short window of opportunity this morning, between prepping dinner and the first child arriving, to hunt down a subject for today's post.
Happily the butterflies came through for me again, and among them I was especially pleased to see this fresh male Common Blue - a species that's been decidedly Uncommon in these parts for the past few years. He was jittery and skittish though, flitting from flower to flower, and I'd begun to despair of him ever settling long enough for me to get in close with the macro, when he suddenly discovered the newly-opened echinops, and sat down to dine with obvious relish. I tried to work myself round to an angle at which the entire frame was filled with blue flower heads and blue butterfly, but it turned out that he hadn't entirely forgotten me and wasn't feeling that cooperative, so I banked the shots I already had, apologised for pushing my luck, and left him to go back to his meal in peace.
I'm off on another road trip tomorrow, and depending how the next couple of days pan out I may not reappear here till Thursday, so I'd better take this opportunity to remind those of you who enjoy a challenge that tomorrow is Tiny Tuesday. (Again!!) There's no theme - anything tiny is eligible - but if you're playing you need to use the tag TT528. I look forward to viewing all the entries when I get back.
