Mono Monday. : : Bicycles
It was definitely a mono sort of day as we set off for Kathy's this morning. A heavy mist hung over the whole area, leaching the color out of everything. We came to a stop at a signal behind a vehicle loaded with bicycles and I quite liked the neat way they were loaded onto the rack on the back of the car. I've taken quite a liberty with the mono theme, but I couldn't resist the touches of red.
Neither of us really wanted to go to the grocery store, but we've put it off so many times that we have run out of wine, so a trip today was imperative. We're finding that it is somewhat more efficient to go together, although we still haven't figured out the best way of dividing up the shopping list. Especially when the majority of the list is in my head. We came home minus a couple of crucial things but plus a lot of other things that we probably didn't need. They have such a good bread section with fresh baked bread from many good local bakeries, but I haven't figured out a good system for storing and eating it before it gets stale. It's really not a good idea to go to the store when you're hungry.
It took longer to put everything away at home than it did to buy it!
Our local National Public Radio station is losing all its federal funds. Aside from those funds, it is supported solely by donations driven by regular pledge drives. Nobody likes the pledge drives, but they seem to be the only way they can raise the money to support the programming which seems quite fair and unbiased. I think there are going to be a lot of calls on the middle class people of this country to support other programs they depend on as federal money is withdrawn. Many of the wealthy have shown little inclination toward philanthropy, unless you count million dollar contributions to Trump's inauguration fund....
Oh dear, I wasn't going to go there today, but now it's time to sit on the porch with a glass of (newly purchased) wine, throw Spike's kong, and see if we can find the evening recap of the Tour de France.
