An ordeal

I had to go to the hospital for an ultrasound of my dialysis fistula.  I got there at 3:05 for a 3:15 check-in for a 3:30 appointment, but the large parking lot adjacent to the building was closed.  So I had to drive around the hospital campus, desperately seeking a parking space that wasn't impossibly far away from my destination.  I finally found a space about a  quarter mile away so I had to trudge back, in 83 degree (28.33 degrees Celsius) heat, to get to my appointment.  I actually got there at 3:28.

It was a longer procedure than I've been used to, so I had a chance to rest before hiking back to where I'd parked the car, which turned out to be in the shade.  Then, since it was just before 5:00, I joined a long line of cars heading for the hospital exit, with new cars entering the line in front of me from the many little roads from around the campus.  The only redeeming aspect of it all: they didn't charge for the parking!

It turned out that today was the only day the parking lot was to be closed!  I have to go back to the hospital tomorrow for an MRI of my lumbar spine, so I'm hoping I can find a space actually in the main hospital building parking lot.  It's supposed to be just as hot tomorrow.

Thanks goodness for air conditioning!
