Quod oculus meus videt

Grey Wagtail (Motacilla cinerea)

Now relocated to Grasmere and an early morning walk along the River Rothay under leaden skies. The weather forecast is good for our time here but the occasional drizzle didn't align.

I had brought the telephoto zoom so walked along the stretch of the river between Grasmere and Rydal Water hoping to see dippers but instead watched as this and other grey wagtails foraged.

Later we walked into Ambleside, stopping for refreshments at the cafe at Rydal Hall. We took our time, drinking in the views as our friends were new to the area. the weather was much improved and very pleasant for walking. A little bit of shopping and them the obligatory bus ride back to the village.
