A day trip to Guernsey
We were on our way to Diélette at 6:00 in the morning since we had to be at check-in for the ferry at 8:00 (half an hour added to the travel time just in case of... something! Better to be safe than sorry).
There were really rough waves and bumpy sailing on the way to Guernsey but thankfully it's only 1 hour 20 minutes to the island and I managed not to throw up. I usually get seasick on a boat so it was to be expected.
We had coffee and cake in the town center, Kári bought himself new shoes and then we walked up to Candie Gardens and Priaulx Library.
I wanted to see The Little Chapel and we rode there by bus. Very charming and strange building in a rural setting, with an interesting backstory.
On the way back to town we had the idea of visiting Hauteville House (former home and garden of Victor Hugo) but sadly we discovered on arrival they only offer pre-booked group visits... apparently we have to get better at researching in advance!
Instead we decided to sit down in a restaurant by the harbour and get a lovely late lunch. Seafood and oysters were delicious with a refreshing drink.
The waves had calmed on our way back to France and I was very relieved after this much too short, but really nice, visit to Guernsey.
