Katie has a go... (and the piggy race)
MrM left early for a day's fishing in the Dales.
I had a slightly more leisurely start, and met with Lesley mid-morning. We caught the bus towards Huddersfield, and then walked up the hill to the Berry Brow Carnival where we played drums with Valley Beats Samba Band, two spots in the middle of the field. The weather was variable - very warm with occasional showers - and we got a little damp the second time we played. Then the sun came out for a while - you could see the steam rising! All sorts of fun to be had at the carnival, including 'Piggy racing' (extra) - June's piggy won this race, much to her delight!
When we'd finished drumming, Katie (who leads the Samba band) went over to have a go on this contraption; several young ladies had been performing on it, balancing and spinning around. Unfortunately, due to H&S regulations, as a member of the public Katie had to keep one foot on the ground, somewhat limiting what she could do.
After we left the carnival, some of us adjourned to the beer garden of a nearby pub for refreshment. A pleasant way to spend a sunny afternoon...
