Cinnabar Moth Caterpillar

I’ve recently seen a few blips of these caterpillars and I have been scouring (unsuccessfully) the local population of ragwort looking for some.

Today, I walked along a path that I haven’t used in a while…and I found a couple of plants with a few on. They are rather spectacular larvae.

I spent ages trying to photograph them…another in extras today… A dog walker came past and enquired what I had found…when I said ‘striped caterpillars’ she just shrugged and walked on. The dog was more interested, and I got an ear wash for my trouble :-)
