Recovery
The weather was still wonderful for most of the day. We had our now-traditional post-festival brunch at The Dell Café, which was delicious, and, thanks to booking, we had a seat in the sun. My feet have just about recovered from all the standing they have been doing over the past few weeks. I saw some people using a collapsible stool which looked very sturdy and might be the kind of thing I should get if we go again. I am lobbying for a break for a year, but I am failing to convince PY, who believes that with no Glastonbury next year, the Isle of Wight line-up might be very good.
We walked back towards Ryde and tried one of the new coffee shops on the Esplanade – it had a lovely atmosphere and was very busy with festival-goers en route back to the mainland. We even got free biscuits.
Opposite, the Hovertravel queue was long, but when we arrived at the pier head, the FastCat had plenty of room. The onward connection to London was delayed considerably. I had a split ticket, and it turns out the part of the journey covered by each ticket was over 15 minutes delayed. Another “delay repay” situation.
