Mud Worshippers

Every year, at the start of the tourist season, specially elected members of the local tourist board prostrate themselves on the muddy banks of the River Brue where it meets the sea to pray to the weather gods for a successful Summer …..

In reality, no such organisation exists but I suspect this particular photo, taken on one of our regular post-dropping-Sophie-off-at-school Wednesday walks wouldn’t be used on any promotional website.

It certainly seems an odd spot to choose for a bit of sunbathing, despite the distant views of the Quantock Hills: just out of shot to the right lie the dubious charms of Hinckley C nuclear power station. There are definitely better views to be had further along the beach.

We had a lazy afternoon in the garden.
