... is what this fancy caterpillar will turn into. I was doing a bit of deadheading and found it on one of the rose bushes.

It's B's birthday today and we were going out for lunch but he decided he'd rather have a nice meal at home this evening. Just beforehand his best present was a phone call out of the blue from his youngest son. They haven't spoken for about six years and they had a long and very positive conversation, with promises of keeping in touch.
