Busy doing …
Why on earth did that silly song pop up? Who sang it anyway? …trying to find lots of things not to do…? Anyway, that’s how today felt in a way, perhaps because we celebrated yesterday just a little too enthusiastically. For a start, I lingered over my morning tea, so breakfast was late … and then I took my Italian out into the sun and was joined by a beguiling black cat. It became so hot I went inside for my coffee, and then felt we could fulfil one of the errands we’d hoped to do here.
This had us marching along towards Leith to visit Tiso’s so that Himself could replace his very down-at-heel trainers.I was feeling so hot that I gave in to temptation and bought a pair of shorts, having left mine at home. (No - I won’t wear them in the streets of Edinburgh). By the time we’d staggered home via Asda (did I mention that we couldn’t face eating out again tonight?) I heard myself say that I’ve never felt so old - an absurd statement in the circumstances. After all, I’ve never been so old!
Mid-afternoon we had something to eat and went out again - this time to get a bus up to Princes Street simply to look at some Scottish art. We didn’t have long, but saw some of the fascinating paintings of Edinburgh and that wonderful one of the barge boy - I’ve written about it before. I took today’s photo as we left, looking East along Princes Street Gardens. And then we pottered down the hill to the bus stop at Ps & G’s and got the bus home.
Now we’ve had dinner (other people’s kitchens!) and I’m writing this early again just because I can. We’ve been walking far more than normal - and today I was wearing sandals - and I’m sore all over.
Poor old thing, eh?
