200 years

The design of the floral clock in Edinburgh changes each year.

This year it marks 200 years of Braille. I stopped off on my way back from dropping a car off for a service and MOT (passed at the end of the day).

I recall seeing an early braille machine in a museum somewhere and of course nowadays there are electronic braille readers and technology can now read out papers aloud.

I thought I’d look into Louis Braille a bit more. A fascinating story and life and it seems that he first presented his system ( there were other more complicated systems around) when he was just 15. In 1824. So we are in the 200th year.

His system underwent various refinements and was not really accepted in his lifetime but has subsequently been accepted.

Otherwise a beautiful warm sunny day with the prospect of more heat and sunshine in the coming days.
