A pair of pears

This is our old pear tree. I'm not sure how long Laurie has had it - at least 20 years, which is how long I've lived here. Until a couple of years ago, it has not borne fruit at all; then it was just two or three pears a year, and they were not very good. This year, we've had four so far - the first two had premature release from the tree after a critter (probably a naughty squirrel) bit around the stems.

The tree does provide some lovely shade, and as I drank my coffee and participated in my online morning writing group whilst under the tree, I looked up at those two pears and wrote this silly little ditty:

Two pears on a tree - a pair of pears.  A rare pair of pears. Do bears eat pears? A pair of bears with a rare pair of pears at the fair - do they dare eat pears on the stairs? Yes, but Beware! people will stare at a pair of bears eating a rare pair of pears on the stairs. Is it fair for people to stare at a pair of bears eating a rare pair of pears on the stairs at the fair? Discuss.

I do love wordplay!
