On Some Days

Small Town . . . John Mellencamp

We drove south a bit over an hour to meet friends and have lunch.  They were in Wellington with their grandchildren but we couldn't meet up before.  So they drove over and we drove down and met in Featherston.  They are friends from Rotorua so it was good to catch up.  The sun shone and I even took my coat off.  Featherson has a lot of second hand book shops but we all resisted buying anything.
Coming back to here we passed two small towns with older wooden buildings and I grabbed this shot of the green building.  It is Wakelins flour mill dating to 1878.  It has been restored but I can't find what it is used for now.
We called into see our friend again and got invited to go next door and have pre dinner drinks with the hunting clients from Texas.  Our friend runs a game hunting opperation which is popular with Americans.  One chap had brought his wife and we  had a good compare and contrast conversation about life here and there.  They have a family place in New Mexico they go to for holidays so they have to be good people :-)  These are bow hunters which is a bit different to the usual hunters with rifles.
