Scale
Can you believe he's no bigger than a paperback book? I think it might even weigh more than he does (it has a lot of pages).
No swim this morning as I went to collect some sausages in a layby. We had rather unseasonal Cumberland sausage, mashed celeriac, and onion gravy for lunch, followed by ice cream. The package also featured a pork roast, complete with skin for crackling -- now in the freezer.
This afternoon, after spending most of the morning having zoomies, Matisse had his first ever visit to the vet. He needs more practice at travelling -- he yelled angrily all the way there and all the way back. Very stressful! In the surgery however, he was visibly adored by everyone who saw him. The rather inexperienced trainee vet weighed him and said he was 1.1kg, which hardly seems possible -- he can't weigh more than a bag of flour (or this book!). He has now had his first jab, and we have the necessary to dose him against fleas and worms.
Back home he ate a hearty meal -- I'd avoided giving him any food for a few hours, for fear of consequences during the journey. And then he curled up on the sofa and slept away the horror for the next few hours. He did join us for an apero, which for him featured cat milk and half a portion of Vache-qui-rit. We know how to spoil him! And now he's asleep again.
PS Please note the subtle wordplay of my title given the subject of the book :)
