Ki-Ki the Robin

Today's the day ........................ to lay to rest

Tessa and Josie are with us for a couple of days, now that the school holidays have begun.  They were out playing in the garden this morning, when they discovered the lifeless body of quite a young robin, that had obviously flown into one of the panes of glass of the conservatory.

It was quite upsetting for them (and us) - so we came up with a plan of giving it a proper burial and laying it to rest in the appropriate way.  The girls set to - Josie collected some flowers and Tessa wrote all the details on the 'gravestone'.  Will found a suitable 'coffin' and dug the grave.  The ceremony was performed quietly and with due respect for a life cut short.

It was actually quite moving .....................
