Getting the sparkle back

Resistance

This is one of the photos from the exhibition "Resistance", recently opened at Modern Two in Edinburgh. This family is protesting about the building of the Newbury bypass in 1996 and the photographer was Andrew Testa. It's an absolutely brilliant exhibition of photos spanning almost a century, starting with the suffragettes and ending in the early 2000s. All the photos are from black and white film and many of them, like this one, use high contrast. The exhibition was conceived by Steve McQueen and it explores how acts of resistance have shaped life in the UK and the powerful role of photography in documenting and driving change. There's more about the exhibition here

Just a note to confirm that the gallery is happy with photos of the exhibition being posted online as long as it's for personal use.

I will probably post some extras but just wanted to get something online for today - if I get behind by even one blip it can set me back for days.

I saw the exhibition with S who came through from Glasgow. I've looked at Blip and it was March last year that we last saw each other - I would never have thought it was so long ago. We mustn't leave it so long until next time.
