Big Ben in the sun
A busy day…woke up early so went for a quick bike ride along the river to Hampton Court while cool and then to the allotment to water and picked the first beans!
Frustrating phone calls first from from doctor, booked for 9.20 and she didn’t ring until 10.05! Then issues with banks and bank apps .
Went up to meet a friend at Waterloo and had a late lunch at Wahacca near the Old Vic which was really well air conditioned…which is why we chose it. We walked to the Marriot Hotel , in the old County Hall where my friends husband used to work. We went in to investigate the restaurants and bars as had not been there for a while and sat in the bar watching the end of first tennis semi final seeing Alcaraz win! Then we went to Parliament as had a booked to visit as they have some special exhibits about 80th anniversary of end of WW2. Surprised to find air conditioning in both the commons and lords chambers. We had short talks in each, and an interesting talk about Churchill too alongside his statue in the members lobby. I had not realised that this was badly bombed in the war.
The refurbished Big Ben looked lovely in the sun, lots of glistening gold!
A good day but hot and tiring. Think tomorrow will be stay at home and rest….plus watch tennis pm!
