Redemption

As my blip from yesterday was unapologetically un-touristy, today I’ve moved to the other extreme. This street is perhaps the most photographed street in Scotland.

The Grassmarket. Used to be where folk got hanged and now it’s where they get hungover. Tourists dodging stag dos in kilts bought on Amazon and students mistaking cobbles for history. Maggie fae the chippy still smokes outside like she’s guarding the place. Pigeons are fatter than the council’s promises. The usuals: buskers that think they’re the next Paolo Nutini and that one guy who always asks if you’ve got “just a spare 50p.” It’s no glamorous, but it’s ours—slightly damp, mildly offensive, and clinging to charm like it clings to the rain.
