Grumpy Old Man

Another world

A hot weekend, even in Scotland! It was 30 degrees when we left Glasgow this morning to divert to the Braehead shopping centre at the south end of the Clyde Tunnel for a bit of shopping. I find it hard to imagine using shopping centres like this on a regular basis - it's another world compared with ours!

We came back over the Erskine Bridge and queued for a couple of miles along the dual carriageway towards Balloch and Loch Lomond. After that the traffic eased off, but when we attempted to use the car park at Firkin Point in the hope of walking along the lochside to find a picnic seat we were snookered - the car park was absolutely mobbed and we had difficulty turning round and getting out! We enjoyed our lunch standing behind the car in a shady layby beside the A82! I scrambled down the bank to the lochside and took a picture which is my extra today - it's almost impossible to imagine that the road in the picture was the main road alongside Loch Lomond up to 1987 and I must have driven it countless times!

Then back home to Oban where the temperature was still 29 degrees! Note to self, as they say 'When the weather's hot, stay at home'!
