Chasing Shadows

A scorcher of a day today and my time has been spent searching for shade wherever I could find it.

I was up early, watering the plants at the back of the house, in the shade, at 6.30

I  then took Hollie for a half hour walk along Dark Lane. So called for obvious reasons, it is deeply shaded by very tall trees. Wonderful.
(See collage in extra)

This afternoon I went alone to Downton Hall Walled Garden just outside Ludlow. Gosh it was hot. ( main collage)

A two acre garden with commercial interests from cut flowers that get sold as far away as London no less. It was a little disappointing as most of the planting is past it's best and looking very distressed in the heat. My first priority was to grab a cup of tea and a scone. And find some shade.

I then spent a pleasant sweaty hour meandering, chatting and taking photos.

Then I was out of there, hot-footing it (literally) to Aldi....to do a few bits of shopping and find some (air-conditioned) shade.

Back home I watched the ladies tennis final. Poor Anisimova was completely in the shade. Well done Swiatek, a fine and impressive display, and a Polished performance!
