Newstead and Ravioli
Among the gifts that W got for me for my birthday last week was a ravioli making set so tonight I am using it to make some wild mushroom ravioli. I had planned to use a shot of it for my blip but things changed when I went shopping.
I parked in the car park next to the station but before heading over to the supermarket I noticed that this engine was in the station. It's 'Newstead', and today was its first day in service. The engine had been lost and thought to have been scrapped but the owner had stored it in the gardens of a convent in Hertfordshire and built a shed around it to protect it. After he died the shed became completely overgrown and the engine was forgotten. A few years ago someone decided to clear the garden of the convent and discovered it.
Now fully restored, it has had a few test runs and today it was hauling paying customers albeit not very far, as it seemed to be just running out of the station and back again. I was just too late to catch the official opening where a bottle of beer was ceremoniously broken on its chassis but here it is starting its first run in service for well over 50 years.
And the ravioli? Well, I've added it as an extra. So far so good; I'm just hoping it doesn't all fall apart when I cook it. EDIT: It didnt!
