Preparations for Monday

This morning the entire Champs Elysee was cordoned off, all the traffic islands and traffic lights had already been dismantled, ready for 14 July and the military parade. A group of young people practised a choreography with umbrellas in the national colours, the Marseillaise and marching music sounded from the loudspeakers.

In the afternoon, we wanted to find out whether swimming in the Seine had really started this summer. Three places are officially authorised. But when we arrived, everything was closed (see extras). We first thought it was because of the water quality and only found out later that swimming is only open in the morning. Instead, we visited “Paris Plage” until it got too hot for us.
