St Ninian’s Isle, Shetland
We arrived in Shetland today for five nights and it’s lovely to be here in such beautiful sunny weather! We took the short hop from Glasgow to Sumburgh with Loganair, picked up a hire car and were off out in no time at all. Lunch at Hoswick Visitor Centre then on to St Ninian’s Isle for a good walk across the tombolo (a bar of sand joining an island to the mainland) and up onto the headland. A wonderful word, tombolo, I’m pretty sure I said that last time we were here too!
Lerwick was very busy when we got here late afternoon, a rather large cruise ship dominated the skyline. Our apartment is in one of the lanes in the centre of town and suits us perfectly. Off out now for dinner then an early night, I think I had all of three hours sleep last night!
