Number147

Saturday

H&R travelled by bus and train, out of the city, to visit us.

They said the Orange Order parades were in full swing and roads were closed.

During the course of today, we saw several sites of the pallet stacks. I was amazed that they were mostly ash.

Worryingly, the site at Carrickfergus was smouldering, opposite a petrol station, and unattended.

We decided to drive H&R back home which, despite road closures, was fairly straightforward.

But trying to leave the city again was a nightmare. Police everywhere! In the end, we ignored road closures signs to get back onto the road home.

We're bound to get a fine.

One of the roads was lined with people waiting for a parade, and we drove the length of it. Just us in our orange car, being watched.
