Cumbria Here I Come

By marpaul

Took Tess to the estuary when the tide was in for her to cool down.  It was 38C when I got in the car!!  Thank goodness for air conditioning.  When we got there some locals were just coming ashore in a skiff (a type of rowing boat) called Bowness Belle.  It was built a few years ago and was originally intended to be used in the Annan (Scotland) to Bowness on Solway Bell Raid event which dates back to 1626 when a group of rowers from Annan (Scotland) decided to cross the Solway to plunder the Bowness on Solway church bell.  I haven’t seen this skiff out for quite a while so was good to see people out in it.  It was interesting watching them move the boat back to its container.  Afterwards four of Tess’s friends turned up, so lots of activity in the water.  There were also about half a dozen people swimming.

Well its been a very hot day today.  I did sit outside for a while in the shade which was quite pleasant.
