Eastbourne - red, white and blue

Very hot today. Hosed through the drains before the inevitable hosepipe ban arrives - not the soil pipes I should make clear but the ones that take away the 'grey water'. I did the ironing during the women's singles final at Wimbledon. Fortunately it wasn't too big a pile as Iga Swiantek won in straight sets 6:0, 6:0. So, here's a photo from yesterday when we drove over to Eastbourne after leaving Farleys. Eastbourne is a rather stately seaside town that became popular for visitors after the railway came in 1850. The pier, which features in the extra, dates from 1872. Unlike other Victorian piers around the country, it is both still standing and in full use. Not that we had time to go on the pier. We were there just to take in the sea air, stroll along the prom and, for me  reminisce about the days out I had in Eastbourne as a child with my parents, grandparents and brother.
