There Must Be Magic

Daisy Fest!

There is no WRONG way to be a daisy!

We went to the closed road by the Scotia Range so that my husband could jog and I could walk. The temperature was in the mid 80s and it was just too hot for me. So I took my sunflower umbrella, and I walked under THAT. I think it helped a little bit. There was an occasional breeze; that was also nice.

They have not mowed around the trail yet, and I am hoping they never do. For the whole place is lined with wildflowers galore, and it is a real treat for the pollinators. There were daisies everywhere, and plenty of the flowers had bugs on them, hanging out, living their lives, each bloom like its own little planet in the Universe of summer.

I was thinking to myself that there was no wrong way to be a daisy, as I surveyed all of the various sizes and shapes of daisies all around me. I noticed an itty bitty crab spider on this one, and sitting right in front of the spider was its tiny bug-lunch. What a charming moment!

I wanted something daisy-ish for my soundtrack song, and here is a match. Here is Daisy Gray, with a lovely and haunting cover of Wicked Game. Also, here's Chris Isaak with the original version.

Now, my tunes box wanted this to be my song for the day, for it played it twice, right around the same spot in the road. Once as I walked out, and once as I walked back to the car. So who am I to resist? Here is a bonus song: Johnny Cash, with You'll Never Walk Alone.
