If You Gotta Go, Go Now

The young mallard likes to rest on our jetty. Today I walked to the jetty in order to relax and read in the chair beside the lake. I talked reassuringly as I approached the mallard. Everything seemed fine and I sat and started to read. Suddenly the mallard rose up and walked toward the side. I grabbed by phone and took some shots, including this one as it hit the water.
