From a distance
We had a superb Sunday lunch at Heft, a Michelin Star restaurant in Newton-in-Cartmel. Stunning food and service. A most enjoyable few hours. Our ‘foodies’ were most impressed. What a great place.
We did have the foolhardy idea of going on to Windermere; the thought of a boat trip on the Lake was very tempting after our lovely meal. Then of course we met the crowds - queuing for the boats, queuing for the car parks. No surprise there on a hot, sunny Sunday afternoon.
So we turned round, negotiated our way out and took the Kirkstone Pass route to Ullswater - far, far better to see the Lake from a distance and walk in the open air . . . and they decided to pose for me.
Now it seems to be cold beers, tennis and cricket (two TVs). I’m sitting outside with a glass of wine and my book . . . in the cool. I think our weather might break tomorrow.
