First picking

My oh my, what a day. I started with a kayak out on a different reservoir with a friend this morning. It was beautiful and hot. There were lots of geese and four pelicans.
Once home I decided that some of the Nanking cherries were ready to pick. There are quite a few that still need to ripen just a bit. These are now in the freezer until I'm ready to do something with them.
Then a quick stop at a friends to pick up some books and extra blankets. I have figured out how to remove my rear seat in my car so I can put my sleeping pad back there. I plan to go car camping next week. The blankets will fill gaps under my sleeping pad.
Then it was over to a friend's where a bunch of my girlfriends gathered for some wine, cheese and talk. It was really nice since we hadn't gathered in a while.
Then the big thing was going to a house concert tonight with Mom. There were three musicians, Shelby Means, Joel Timmons and Maya de Vitry. I will have some links to them tomorrow. All three are Nashville musicians and play on their own gigs but they have come together to tour around the West. Joel and Shelby are married and the coolest thing is Shelby grew up in Laramie. The house concert was out on her families property outside of Laramie. Her dad, Warrie plays a mean banjo and the stage was set up in his shop. It was so Wyoming. They were all having such a good time. Each person would play one of their own songs and the others would back them up. And with the family vibe and Warrie playing with them on a number of tunes, it just made the whole show amazing. The first song actually made me cry just a bit. It really was a perfect night. Mom really enjoyed it too. I'm hoping some good photos were taken that I can share at some point. But now I have to get to bed!
Out to Mom's tomorrow to help with things.
