Evening Marmalade

Firstly, thanks so much for your generous response to yesterday’s barley sunset - comments, stars and hearts all very much appreciated.

Today’s blip shares something of the golden colour, but this lily leans more towards cream than gold. Again too hot to go far, my photography is limited to a post-tennis garden foray, by which time all the butterflies have vanished and the hoverflies seem to have taken over.

This corner of the garden’s full of perfume - jasmine, nicotiana and lilies. There’s even a tiny show of honeysuckle - a plant we inexplicably struggle to grow, but the insects clearly love what’s there. And of course these balmy evenings really bring out the fragrances as we sit enjoying our meal and the slightly cooler temperatures.

So today’s blip is a marmalade hoverfly on the petal of a pollen-speckled lily flower.
