litl hikes

By litl

Heavy showers were forecast for the morning but I knew I should escape the local area.

I made sandwiches and a flask of coffee and packed a few other snacks then headed to Sizergh Castle. I’d just parked when the first shower arrived so I waited in the car for a while. I went anti-clockwise around the gardens and it was interesting to see activity on the lake. The boat which has always been in its storage area at one edge of the lake was being used to remove the weed (or whatever it is) on the water surface with one man waist deep in the water. That’s the main photo looking to the castle.

I found some shelter during the next shower then worked my way back to the car and had lunch.

With the weather brightening I did one of the walks around the estate. Interesting that one field has a margin at least 5 metres wide that was allowed to grow wild. The first extra is one of many butterflies there.

A selection of other photos in the second extra.
