From Cockermouth to Seascale
Ignoring signs, that's where we good at. Even three times a sign along the same road. We always think 'ah well, probably not for us, bikers', or something like that. And it happened twice today. We were at Great Broughton going to Workington. There was this sign Road Closed due to someting. We didn't pay attention. We then passed two more warning signs, but we continued cycling. After about three kilometers, it only became clear to us when many cars and a pile driver the width of the narrow road with its high embankment blocked the way.
The second time, we saw a sign saying the cycle route ended and that we had to take the train, but we also saw a signpost for the coastal path, also for cyclists. It was at Sellafield station. We followed the signs, because who would take the train, right?
After cycling along a decent path for a while, we came across a bridge and then... nothing. Bert went under the bridge and saw that we were about to climb on what looked like a path, but it would be very difficult. We decided that climbing wouldn't work. So wecontinued cycling across the grass until we hit a fence, which we couldn't get through at all.
We gave up; it was pointless. We cycled back to the station and bought tickets for the next station: Seascale, a four-minute train ride.
