I Witness

Mono Monday: Week 599 ...

... Stone.

The late American actress Jayne Mansfield was from our area (born in Bryn Mawr, PA) and is buried a short 30 minutes from our home in Pen Argyl ... the Slate (stone) Belt region of our State.  We had been to the cemetery once or twice before but I thought another visit was called for ... especially with a MM theme of Stone.  I've added into Extras a photo of her grave stone.  You can see it was raining when we were there.

I was all set to post the extra as my main photo but as we were driving through the cemetery I was drawn to this little stone lamb ... which sadly guards the grave of a young boy ... under 3 years old.  Thanks to JacZero for hosting Mono Monday all this month.

We had a busy morning because not only did we drive to this cemetery we also visited another site that features some stone work ... Columcille Megalith Park.  It's no Stonehenge ... but it's fun to visit.  And then after visiting this park we drove the short distance from there to Minsi Lake.  No kayaking today as it was only a brief stop before heading back towards home.  While there we were lucky enough to see a Bald Eagle fly over head.  I've added a photo to my Facebook feed.
