Seriously?

Dramatic interlude

An interesting day!
Mostly around 37ºC.
I dragged myself out of bed not long after 8am in order to give the woofer a walk before it gets too hot. Greater love hath no insomniac than s/he arises from the bedchamber 'early' so that their furry companion can have a morning stroll before the hot pavement prohibits such activities....

Back before 9am I did not a lot for 2-3 hours until Abo came and we went to Didim to look at small fridges, (for the now finished and rather elegant roof terrace sun room); dishwashers (for the kitchen once the washing machine has been relocated to the kitchenette on the roof terrace); and for me to pay my internet monthly fee, as for some reason I was unable to do so online. None of these things was the purpose of Abo's visit - he was just being helpful. His  reason for coming was quality control the building work that was finished while I was in Istanbul to ensure I am happy.  In fact I am not. In my absence the craft room balcony has been enclosed with sliding glass doors that are not framed in white which is what I expected but in anthracite coloured frames. We discussed solutions and the best one seems to be to paint the offending dark frames white. All the other work is very much to my satisfaction. I am extremely pleased with the quality of work throughout, and love the  enlarged pool surround, the now finished outside storage 'shed' (big enough to rent out as a holiday accommodation I joked!), all the new tiling - roof terrace and extended ground floor patio - oh and the kitchenette , decor and lighting of the roof terrace sun room.

Back from Didim by lunchtime, ( I am so grateful to Abo for helping me with what would have taken all day using the local mini bus service) I enjoyed an afternoon of pool time and laziness in rather warm temperatures.

Then the drama. Around 5.30 i came indoors to shower before going to the sea front for dinner, when I heard  a tremendous noise from the downstairs cloakroom which houses the electric water heater unit. I opened the door to find I was staring in to some kind of steam room condensing on the tiled floor in small puddles of nearly boiling water making it too hot to enter.  I turned off the water outside at the mains and then called Abo and he told me what to do to be safe until he could get here, which was about an hour later. Unfortunately having isolated the unit, he couldn't fix it - so no hot water tonight - hardly an issue in this heat - but everything is safe and he will return in the morning for this and a few other jobs.. I am so grateful to this man.

Drama over, Abo left and Rufus and I walked to the seafront where, surprise surpise, we went to Pasa for a salad+beer and water+doggy biscuit for a couple of hours. Back around 9.30, still very 'warm', the pool is lit with such pretty blue lights that I couldn't resist, so night time pool time has rounded off this interesting day.  But, 'all is well' (again) and that is surely enough.
