Galinsoga/Gallant Soldier
Galinsoga is, of course, the Latin word for 'horrible weed that's impossible to get rid of'. It has tiny flowers (pictured) that are easily overlooked, but wow, does this plant know how to seed. It reminds me of (the original) Star Trek's Trouble With Tribbles episode (I'm dating myself here). You'll remember that tribbles were born pregnant - well Galinsoga seeds before it has flowered (impossible, right?) anyway, once you notice the flowers it's too late.
Stay tuned for my other nemesis - Japanese beetles. They are starting to swarm.
(Galinsoga is really named for an 18th century physician and botanist of that name - in the days when herbal remedies were more important than they are today, the two professions had considerable overlap.)
