You’re on your own

A little under a third of the people taking care of the elderly in retirement homes are immigrants; that’s almost two million employees — most of them legal; some not; all of them afraid of being caught in the arbitrary net that ICE agents throw, esp now that they have actually openly said that they racially profile people (better not have brown skin or slanted eyes…)

These are already tough jobs to recruit for, esp since the days of Covid. According to a neighbor who works in that field, the ratio of help to resident used to be 1:10 (and that’s in high end facilities). Nowadays, it’s closer to 1:40 or even more. That means that staff really only have time to do the bare minimum as they move from one resident to the next. I’ll spare you the details.

So when Dear Leader says “no immigrant is off limits”, he’s probably not imagining himself laying in some bed waiting for his butt to be wiped. I do hope that’s his future.
