Tree house
We visited La Hougue Bie, a Jersey Heritage site that has a Neolithic passage grave constructed 6000 years ago. It sits beneath a grassy mound topped by a 12th century chapel.
The place fills you with awe, it’s so rich and deep in a historical sense, and naturally there are some incredibly old trees, some of which have little fairy inhabitants, clearly.
Also in this compact area there is a replica Neolithic longhouse, a museum housing a huge Celtic coin hoard found in a Jersey field by detectorists 12 years ago, and of course the obligatory WW2 bunker. This one contains a moving tribute to the slave labourers that were brought to the Channel Islands from Russia and other parts of Europe to build the many concrete fortifications.
Such a lot to see and think about here.
