NEW CAR
Uhhhh no - sadly not just one of many at The Lakeland Motor Museum.
It's been fair drookit today and I mean REALLY WET. What a difference huh. Not complaining as at least I can breathe in this, but not great if you have any outdoor activities or long journeys to make.
I had decided I would take Garron to the Lakeland Motor Museum today before we knew about the weather anyway. We haven't been for a couple of years so time to visit again and I can use my Resident's card to get in cheaper.
We headed off OK, despite the weather, but got to Flookburgh and two huge lorries had tried to pass each other on that tiny bridge and were jammed together so no way of getting past them. I don't know which one wouldn't give way to the other but it's so stupid as you only have to wait a couple of seconds to get over it!!!!
So I turned round and went back along Allithwaite Road into Grange, up Windermere Road (a lot of deep puddles forming there, so lots of splashes and testing of brakes) and up the A590.
We still got there by 10:15 and it was already beginning to get busy. No matter we got in, managed to slowly walk around the museum with Garron needed to sit a couple of times due to his dizzy spells. I met a few dogs who kept wanting to be cuddled, so of course it would have heen rude not to wouldn't it!!!??
Garron then got to dizzy to continue to so we popped over the Cafe Ambio for drinks and cake and a good rest for him. After that we popped back into the shop of the museum so he could have a wee look around. It was not getting a lot busier so we were glad we had gone in earlier as he wouldn't have been able to do it with so many people around.
As we got back to the car park (having got a bit drenched in the meantime) there were people queueing to get into my car parking space. Because my exit had been blocked by idiot parking I had to do a 3 point turn with windows misting up before I oculd pull over, try to demist the windscreen as best I could before moving off. The car park was now well overflowing with people parked in all sorts of obscure places, some stupidly parked but most sensibly.
The car misted up again and even though the air con was serviced this year I had all the demisters, fans and aircon going and still it wouldn't demist. So I had to drive peering over the steering wheel. Thank heavens I didn't have far to go and the traffic was fairly light. I'm going to have to find a window cleaner that has de-fogging abilities in it Ihink but where to start!!!
Still we had a pleasant couple of hours out before it got too heaving. That's the trouble with The Lakes, so many tourist attractions, about 90% of them geared up to outdoor activities but very few for indoor ones when the weather is bad - strange but it is a well known area for bad weather!!!
I only know of two indoor activities in South Cumbria, this one and the Aquarium and they're going to be rammed today. Just a few museums in Cumbria too. I have often though that rather than trying for yet more zipi wires activities ruining the beauty of the landscape they should provide a few more indoor ones for the many days like today that we get!!! Just my opinion of course.
I hope those that are on holiday do manage to find something to do and still remember to park sensibly/considerately.
We are safetly back home and won't be going anywhere else today.
Do take care and do be careful if you too have lots of rain, stay safe and dry and see you all tomorrow.
