Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark

As there was heavy rain forecast today Paul and I had a last minute change of heart for our geocaching trip and went up the Wirral.

The first cache we did was a virtual at this phone box in Meols. As you can see there is a plaque next to it which explains that it was the unofficial office for the band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark and the phone number of the box is mentioned in their 2nd single 'Red Frame White Light'. I bought their first single 'Electricity' when it came out in 1979 and also got their album at the same time. I had always been aware of the story but hadn't realised that I had driven past it dozens of times as it is next to the road going into Hoylake,

We gave up caching after a couple of hours as the weather was a bit miserable so we made the right decision to change from our original plan which would have been a long point to point walk.

Off to watch my first Chester game of the season tonight as they have a match at Runcorn Linnets. I thought of taking my camera but I don't think I will bother.
