The force was not with me today as I set off at dawn in another attempt to get a photo of the 2 barred crossbills that are visiting us from Siberia. The light was lovely, and I was reasonably optimistic. When I got there, I was told by some even earlier birds that I had just missed them. I stuck around for a while but then a bank of cloud rolled in and even if they had reappeared, I would have struggled to get a shot. there were dozens of common crossbills, and normally I would have been thrilled to see them, but I have already bagged them for my bird blip challenge. Must dash, as I have a plot hatching.
