Fledgling Great Tit ( Parus major )
Yesterday I moved the trail camera to look out over the feeding station. This morning the birds seemed to think I had put it there as an extra perch for them. It has poured down all day so I wasn't going out looking for blips and this Great Tit was just asking to be blipped.
It is a this year's youngster, this can be told mainly by the lighter colour of the black cap and the overall softer colours of the feathers. He or she is just starting a fairly short life. The average life expectancy is 3 years, however the record (proved by ringing recoveries) is 10 years 5 months 18 days.
