POPCORN

I had an appointment at 9.40am at the Complex Wounds Clinic in Blaydon to get my leg ulcer checked and the dressing changed.  The bus from the village which goes direct is only once an hour and the timing wasn't right so I got a different bus to Swalwell and then walked the 1.5 mile to the clinic.  

Saw two different nurses this time.  Of course as they had never seen me before they had to read through my notes and ask lots of questions.  They checked the ulcer and as far as they were concerned its doing Ok.  Ulcers just take ages to heal whatever treatment you get.  They put a new dressing on.... same as last weeks and it stung like mad.   I'm away next Tuesday and the nurse last week said I could miss a week and just change my own dressing.  The nurses today said this wasn't a good idea in case of infection so they tried to find me an appointment for Monday.  None at Blaydon.... but they phoned the nurse at my local Health Centre and managed to get me an appointment there on Monday morning.  

When I left the clinic I was in terrible pain and thought it would ease as the day went on.  It hasn't.  However I decided to stick to my plans and get a bus to Gateshead.  Wasn't there long.  Did a quick shop and came home.

Took some paracetamol and went straight to bed and managed to sleep for 3 hours.  Still in a lot of pain this evening.  Fingers crossed tomorrow will be better.
