Songbird

This little bird (a Siskin) moved into the garden and lived among the flower pots for a few days. Nothing I did could make him/her fly away. It’d ignore me - but if I got too close - it’d hop in between the flower pots. Nothing could make it fly. 
I made sure seeds and water were available and hoped the neighbourhood cats stayed away (I chase them pretty regularly so they know they aren’t welcome).  
Anyway - this morning I was gardening and I surprised it - and it flew onto the fence and appeared more surprised than I was. It quite rapidly fluttered back to the flower pots. 
And this afternoon s/he flew away.
My days of bird protection are over.
