Cycling in Search of a Paper
Today was rain day but not all day and before breakfast I managed to haul my little foldable bike out and cycle on down to the metropolis of Kingsbury. By metropolis I mean more pubs than shops and the Coop had no Guardian because the kind lady told me they had been given someone else’s papers. “They probably gave them to them lot down the road…”. Who is “them lot” I asked. Oh that’s the other shop on the left. So I moseyed on down to “Mr. News” but I guess Mr. News was having a lie in as Mrs News was only to happy to sell me the last Guardian in the shop. I asked if she would keep one by for me tomorrow and she said, “don’t worry love no one will buy it.” Not sure if that’s because no one lives in this grand metropolis or they’ve all defected to Reform and the fridge.
Anyway lovely ride past the river and the lakes - this view from by the river and the walking bridge that I mistakenly took and ended up carrying the bike up several stairs before emerging into the throbbing heart of the city/town/village/street with a Coop, 3 pubs and Mr. News on it.
L went out to Erdington in search of a book about Rookery House - apparently some family doings happened there and she met up with Dan and Paul while I studied Peter Enns’ “Evolution of Adam” for my thesis.
Dinner was lamb chunks in a Masala Cauliflower soup masquerading as a cook in sauce and it was delicious. Drank a couple of glasses of a lovely Malbec that was kindly donated to me for trying to put up a show tent in a gale. Ended the day watching the first part of The Last of Us Season 2 and the WiFi just about held up!
