The Butterfly
It’s been a very satisfying day today. It started with mid-week Communion, and then the rest of the day was spent doing a deep tidy of the craft room. I’m loving seeing all the clear desk space that is emerging!
Smithers has been busy too, making a batch of granola and then a batch of scones. Ten minutes after the latter came out of the oven, The Traveller’s girlfriend, T, who is now living with us, passed by the kitchen and breathed in deeply, enjoying the aroma of fresh baking. She was happy to accept the offer of a small scone (her request) with a cup of tea, despite the fact that she says she’s put on a bit of weight since she’s come to live here.
My mid-afternoon foray into the garden for a bit of fresh air produced this shot of a hedge brown. I nearly didn’t get a photo of it – I saw it flitting around and dashed indoors for the camera. When I returned it was nowhere to be seen, but it emerged a few minutes later to alight on the tub of erigeron on the terrace. Job done.
"It is not enough merely to exist" said the butterfly, "I need freedom, sunshine and a little flower for a companion."
(From The Butterfly short story by Hans Christian Andersen)
