Grumpy Old Man

Lady of Lismore

We had planned to visit the Isle of Arran today with our daughter, but the event she was to visit was postponed, so she and I drove up to Port Appin to take the passenger ferry over to the island of Lismore instead. My Blip today.

There's a 3 mile loop walk around the top of the island, two thirds of which follows the shoreline, but in spite of being marked on the map with a promise of waymarking, it was largely pretty vague and quite hard going!

The route takes the walker past an ancient limekiln and through the tiny village of Port Ramsay, built as workers' cottages in the old days. Coming out on to the road we followed that back to the ferry. I'd put an 85mm lens on my camera as I was fed up with the focusing problem with my 18-300 zoom, but I'd forgotten just how limiting this would be, especially in such a landscape/seascape area! So no Lismore pictures.

On the way home we called in at the Highland Fold, a small shop in a converted barn where we enjoyed home-made ice-cream and I had a peppermint milkshake too! A good end to a lovely day!
