Watching You Watching Me!

I was up before six this morning as I had an eight o'clock appointment at Occupational Health at the Hospital with my mallet finger.  The OT was pleased with its progress.  It has straightened but needs another three weeks in the splint before its cautious removal.

Back home I had an early cuppa before putting some washing in and then moving the flowerpots back to where they belong.  We've had some cementing done at the front of our house to try and prevent the ingress of water.  Most of the houses on our terrace have different degrees of damp downstairs, partly because the downstairs is under the road level and mainly because our Victorian street was not built for dustbin wagons, skip lorries and racing delivery drivers.  Over the years the pavement has dropped because lazy drivers and drivers of large vehicles, ride up onto the pavement to avoid our parked cars.  I placed the flowerpots in the hope that drivers would keep to the road and take more care so that the mortar could 'go off'.

Once that was done I ordered a wedding card for neighbours who will be getting married in three weeks, then I wrote a colourful letter to Euan to celebrate his smashing end of reception year report from School.  Luckily he will be moving into his Class 1 with several of his friends and his new teacher is apparently 'loved by everyone'.

After lunch I did an hour's bramble bashing in the Drying Ground and by that time, Tony had returned from his day walking on Whernside, that will be the Yorkshire Three Peaks completed again then.

We had a quiet half an hour in the garden looking at bugs.  We have noticed  that there are many more insects around this year which is a good sign.  I have often bemoaned the lack of butterflies in or around the mini meadow but this afternoon I blipped three different ones: a large Skipper; a Meadow Brown and a Small Copper, excellent.  Whilst I was faffing with my lens, this juvenile robin appeared close by so I slowly lifted my camera to try and capture him without scaring him away.

Then it was off to Pilates before dinner!
