Sunny California Day

The sun came out today and everything looks more cheerful. We started the day driving on Pacific Coast Highway to Newport Beach and Balboa Island, we parked the car and walked around and had a cafe latte with lavender flavor and oat milk. Then we took the ferry over to the Peninsula and to the pier. For lunch we stopped at the famous Crab Cooker Restaurant.
I remember it from 'way back' maybe 50 years ago, they had free breadsticks and crackers at the table, free jawbreakers when you checked out, beautiful postcards with the red building and you could write your cards and they would put postage stamps on them - even overseas - and mailed them for you.
I even addressed one to myself to see if they really did that. Answer: YES. Oh and now they don't do this anymore. They are cutting corners and raised prices, and the old waitresses, who worked there for decades are gone too.
But they still have fresh fish and good beer on tap and a great nostalgic atmosphere.
